We started shooting details at the cottage in the bridal suite at the Grove of Redlands.
The Grove of Redlands is a venue that is vast in acreage it’s got vignettes of beautiful areas of landscaping and cottages but the vast majority of the venue is lined in Rose and rows of orange trees. The main ceremony area is bookended with white rose bushes reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland. There are islands of white rose bushes in the ceremony area overlooking the hills. Adjacent to the reception area is the most beautiful little man-made pond also surrounded by white roses and a mini waterfall. We spied big beautiful large Koi fish speckled in oranges and blacks.
Her reception area and ceremony area were dripping in florals of fuchsia pink and white. Arches dripping with flowers and a flower wall with an ombre style floral look with the word The Sanchez’ and in commemoration of her Latin heritage, she adorned the reception area with white cut-out paper. In Spanish, it is called papel picado. There was also a large floral Arch shaped in an almost a complete circle absolutely dripping with florals. The wide expanse of the ceremony and reception area also looked intimate despite its grandeur there were details of abundance with wood signs and vintage benches.
Getting dressed and ready and finishing makeup took longer than anticipated which is normal. While Shelsea was getting her hair done I snuck over to the boys’ room and… and guess what? The boys’ cottage is in a treehouse! I took a couple of getting-ready photos of Joseph and his Entourage.
While at the boys’ treehouse, Joseph… read the intimate letter that Shelsea wrote for him… And vice versa when I headed back to the girls she read her letter from Joseph and of course tears were had.
Joseph’s tears as he watched his beautiful bride come down the aisle was beautiful and vulnerable.
We were all surprised when the groom’s father officiated the wedding. It made it much more touching…he preached with real vigor and love.
The ceremony was flawless and everything went perfectly.
Right after the ceremony, we photographed the family.
It’s finally the time of the day that I get to show off my art with the bridal party and the bride and groom. We ran about an hour maybe an hour and a half late so we didn’t get a ton of photos of the bridal party beforehand but we definitely got a few really great and fun shots during the creative formal section of the day. I shot some really gorgeous photos of them on a vintage bench and in the Orange groves. The grounds are absolutely immaculate!
The grand entrance was quite grand! With every couple getting their own song and each of them making their own special dance as they walk down to the reception area.
Shelsea and Joseph looked spectacularly flawless even that late in the evening.
Dinner was wonderful. We took some beautiful sunset photos at the little Koi pond/lake.
Afterwards we had cake cutting and speeches…that were emotional and moving. Shelsea’s maid of honor Ashley, her cousin…could barely get through her speech and Uzi was so sweet with his best man speech.
It was quite the funny scene…anything to help out my couple and my friend.
A little dancing was had and then we did the sparkler at the end of the day….it was soooo beautiful.
I want to conclude this blog by stating that the people in the back that are putting all of this together from the florals to the linen to the cake. All of these people make these events possible. And I want to send out a huge thank you and shout out to all of the vendors that made this day possible….

Plus I want to thank Shelsea and Joseph. I have been looking forward to shooting their wedding since I first met them many many years ago…. They have been hiring me for their family portraits every year for so many years I cannot even remember. I shot Shelsea’s Brothers wedding 10 years ago and have been a part of their family for that long. Family portrait after family portrait watching this beautiful family grow…and finally Shelsea and Joseph’s day…and it was everything I thought someone with immaculate taste would host. This couple the way of sunshine they are the embodiment of happiness the embodiment of later, beauty, gratitude and philanthropy. They hold God close to their heart and are both sacred human souls that came together in this lifetime to spend their lives together. And I was so glad that I was here to watch the love that surrounds them warm their hearts on this beautiful day… And watch them finally become one soul.
