Natural Light Ambient Light Environmental Professional Head Shots portraits

Here is a sample of a very simple and naturally lit head shot.

Unlike most of the head shot that I do which are in studio and lit with studio lighting. Which is really like flash photography. This is lit completely from a beautiful bright window. The background is just my dining room area. Head shots can be in studio for naturally lit. I lean towards a preference for natural light head shots, although in the ultra professional businesses like real estate or medical industries a studio head shot is the norm. I believe that real estate portraits and medical industry portraiture can also be really beautiful with natural light.

Below I have samples of some lawyers that I shot with natural light and just a little bit of fill light from an off camera flash. As you can see these portraits also look very professional. They have a little bit more modern feel to them and are not as static as in studio portraiture. I’m happy to do either type of head shots and environmental portraits but I will say I have a preference towards the natural light portrait photography.
