Orange County locations
Laguna Beach
A popular spot with my clients is Laguna Beach. The main beach has a beautiful long sandy strip of beach plus you also have the additional bonus of having a cute rocky area that adds some really awesome dimension to your engagement photographs. I normally start the shoot in the quaint and rustic downtown area in Laguna Beach. This is a perfect area to start your engagement photos because there are tons of adorable brick walls, vintage churches, beautiful landscaping and a really cool vibe. I normally tell my clients to start off wearing something casual and cute. I love colorful vintage clothing for this area. For my most fashion forward clients I suggest a cute pair jeans and a sexy top paired with your hottest stilettos. We normally end the shoot on the beach about an hour before sunset. Laguna has a beautiful stretch of sandy beach that looks amazing and photographs. The sun is normally in a perfect part of the beach. Off to the right of main beach, are the tide pools. This adds a really cool dimension to your engagement photos. I normally ask clients to wear, flowy beach dresses, cute colorful casual clothes or something sexy like their favorite little black dress. There are no additional fees for shooting engagement photos in Laguna. That could change, as it is rumored that they will soon be charging photographers $100 for two hours of photography time. I have never been approached by anybody there but again, this could change.
Irvine Regional Park, funny enough, located in orange, is also a favorite amongst my clients for engagement photography locations. The park is vast! It is so vast you could probably lose yourself in the park! There are parts of the park that look wild. I love the look of the tall grasses and the gnarled trees. There is also a large part of the area that is sculptured with beautiful green grass and cute pathways. It’s nice to mix it up and do both. I normally like my clients to wear casual clothing when at Irvine Regional Park. Blue jeans and boots paired with casual tops and plaid look super cute. I love warm toned colors like cream sweaters and brown boots. I love when couples are coordinated but not matching. You can always check out my Pinterest board to get more ideas. Just search Square Eye Photography. I normally start shooting at this location about 2 ½ hours before sunset and stop about a half hour before sunset for two consecutive hours of shoot time. We stop a little short of sunset because the sun sets behind the hills and it gets dark pretty quickly. There is no additional charges for Irvine regional Park at this time.
The ultimate vintage location. This spot is perfect for those that are into a 50’s look. This rustic and vintage downtown is teeming with antique stores and a vintage vibe. All the buildings are old but restored to their vintage charm. It is one of my favorite vintage locations. There are tons of brick buildings and adorable Victorian homes to use as backdrops. Cute little cafés and unique restaurants line the streets. I prefer clients in colorful vintage clothing and hipster looks for this location. There are no additional charges for this location at this time.
Chapman University is another one of my favorite engagement photography locations. The grounds are grand and structured. Roman columns sprinkle the grounds. Beautiful vintage brick buildings and architectural details that allow for some really cool poses are all around. This area can take a more dressed look. This is the spot where you can wear that sexy mermaid blue dress and have your honey in a tux. This area calls for a dressier look. This is great for fashion forward clients that love to wear those high heels. It has a very sexy vibe, with Roman columns and soft light. It’s a perfect location for those that want to wear something a little dressier. Chapman University is located blocks away from the orange circle. There are no additional charges for this location at this time.
This is the higher end Chapman University. WOW! This location is the darling of locations. There is a charge to shoot here but it’s well worth it. I have shot many family portraits here but no engagement shoots, I dare you to be the first! It is definitely a location for that long billowinga soft pink dress and a tuxedo. It is the location for that formalwear that you really want to wear. It has the most amazing water structure and the most gorgeous Grecian architecture. The fountain looks like it’s straight out of Italy. There are so many amazing architectural details that make a photo shoot here AMAZING!!! This University is located in South Orange County.
There is a charge of $200 an hour here.
Mission San Juan Capistrano has a personality that is its own. With its crumbling Adobe walls and brick that peaks through, this historical mission is one of the most beautiful places in Orange County. It has grand brick arches and beautiful sculptured gardens. I pair the mission San Juan Capistrano shoot with historical downtown. I normally spend an hour at the mission and an hour surrounded by the beautiful parks and streets of the historical downtown district. There is an additional charge to shoot at the mission $75.00 per hour for up to 5 people. Only 1 hour is necessary.
Of course Disneyland is such a fun option! One of the Orange County’s hot spot’s for proposals and engagement shoots! I love the color and fun at Disneyland. There is an additional charge for Disneyland.. my additional ticket, as of this moment I am not an annual pass holder.
Walt Disney Concert Hall/ Financial District/ China Town
I normally pair Walt Disney Concert Hall with the financial district along with other close locations. Downtown LA is all bunched together and you can usually hit a few really cool spots in one shoot. I normally like to start my shoot at Walt Disney Concert Hall and take advantage of the amazing architecture there, the soft brushed chrome walls make for some awesome modern looks. This is definitely for a fashion forward couple. This is the time you can put on that sexy dress and those high heels and show off that killer body. After the concert hall I normally shoot all around the financial district. There are a lot of little cute secret areas that I know of that make for beautiful photography. There are some fantastic fountains, public artwork and Museum backdrops that look really cool. Along with all the cool super tall buildings. Usually as the sun starts to darken I like to head over to Chinatown and do a few lantern shots to end the day. There is an additional $250 fee for me to shoot in downtown LA but that also extends your shoot to three hours so we can get some killer downtown LA night shots.
