I know, I know I always start my blogs with it was such a perfect day for a wedding. But what can I say, it was a perfect day for a wedding. The weather was absolutely gorgeous a perfect spring wedding on a perfect spring day.
We started pretty late in the day for a wedding, showing up around 3:15 for the getting ready photos. Villa del Sol wedding venue in Fullerton is not a huge venue so there isn’t a lot of walking around so we don’t need the 10 hours that we normally need for a traditional wedding. It’s quaint, charming, and absolutely beautiful. It is one of my favorite venues in regard to photography.
We met Jackie at the bridal suite on the third floor and her beautiful niece was just starting her makeup. She already had a room full of guests when we arrived.
She was explaining to us all of her awesome DIYs and how she made her wedding day work on a budget. Jacquie told us how she was just baking a cake earlier that morning. Her fiance loves her cake so much that he insisted that she bake a cake to pass out to all the guests. She was also explaining how she made her own gorgeous bouquets using only Trader Joe’s flowers. She happened to get lucky that Trader Joe’s had plenty of flowers because somebody had canceled their order and they had an influx of beautiful spring florals. Her hydrangeas were starting to wilt a little that morning because they require tons of water and her sweet soon-to-be husband ran to a bunch of Trader Joe’s to ensure her flowers would be fresh and beautiful for their big day. When we got to her suite on the top floor of the gorgeous Villa Dell Sol in Fullerton her beautiful daughter Sophia was already dressed and ready when we got there, at 9 years old she was super adorable and equipped with glitter gloss for her mom’s wedding.

We photographed the very sweet and very quirky Jacquie with her daughter and some family members and then went downstairs to the solid beautiful wood doors at the front of the wedding venue Villa del Sol in Fullerton. There we photographed Steven with his best man, his soon-to-be stepdaughter, his niece and other family members. Afterwards we headed back upstairs to photograph Jacquie with her dad as he blessed her for the day. She put on his boutonniere and him and her mother put on her veil. It was a very sweet event as everyone was trying to hold back tears.
We were finally ready for the ceremony. Steve’s cousin from Arizona was the officiant. He was quite the character, the whole ceremony was absolutely hilarious and kind of poked on Stephen the whole time. It was sweet and poignant but also absolutely hilarious and he totally fit the part of somebody from Arizona with long hippie gray hair and a black rose bolo. The ceremony was short but sweet and of course Villa del Sol is beautiful the light shines gorgeously to the back of the venue and then just shines a beautiful light on the rest of the venue, it glows absolutely beautifully there. Villa del Sol is such an iconic Californian staple and I’m always excited to shoot there.

After the ceremony we photographed all of the close family and then it was my favorite time of the day, the time when I get to take the couple out for creative formal photographs. The reason that Jackie chose Villa del Sol in Fullerton for her wedding was because she saw beautiful photographs that were taken of the bride and groom in the venue and the surrounding area and some of those photographs that really sold her were mine. I’ve shot many MANY weddings at Villa del Sol in Fullerton and I have lots of samples on Google and on their Yelp page. We photographed them all around the grounds and downtown Fullerton doing some really awesome creative photos as you can see here. Plus we went outside of the Orange county wedding venue to hit the streets and the neighborhoods around this beautiful Fullerton landmark. We photographed in front of historical homes and hidden beautiful alleyways. We did some romantic photos and some fun wedding favorites. Every time I would tell Steve to put himself up against the wall he pretended that he was getting arrested it was super funny. That guy was silly the whole day! Maya, my daughter who was assisting me that day, and I had tons of fun. Even though it was a short wedding for us we got lots of beautiful photographs and got to utilize our time perfectly.

After the ceremony and after all of the creative formal photographs we started getting ready for the wedding reception it was sunset and of course the most perfect time of the day. There were candles everywhere and the lighting was gorgeous. Villa del Sol in Fullerton has the most beautiful lights strewn about… Along with the candlelight, it really made the wedding reception glow. The best man and now husband, Steven, made speeches along with Sophia, Jackie’s little daughter… Who made it very clear that their love should get deeper and deeper until it’s “a triangle of love.” LOL!!! Everyone busted out laughing! It was super cute!
Dinner was then served… It was super yummy. We were served buffet style Mexican food, which is one of my favorites, and the food at Villa del Sol is always yummy. This Fullerton wedding was absolutely gorgeous and the couple deserved each other they were both so sweet. They were both so easy going and you could just tell that they were deeply in love.
During their first dance, Stephen was singing the song to Jackie. Almost made me cry!

Steven had said that he went to one of his friend’s weddings recently and they did a ceremony where the bride and groom took different colored sands and combined them to the point where they could never be separated and it inspired him to come up with his own version of a symbol of coming together. He decided he definitely wanted something he could eat and he wanted to include his stepdaughter. He came up with the cutest idea of milk, representing him, chocolate syrup, representing Jacquie, and a cupcake, representing Jacquie’s daughter Sophia. He went into full detail about why he chose everyone as their components and they all made the chocolate milk together and ate and drank. I thought it was so sweet that he wanted to do this and it was a beautiful and tasty tradition anyone can implement at their wedding.

The rest of the evening followed with speeches and father-daughter dance along with mother-son dance. The reception was perfect, the weather was gorgeous and everyone was having a great time. The Villa, in Fullerton, was lit with candles and it made the evening very magical. All of the standard formalities were had and even though it was a Sunday evening most people stayed and partied away!
A huge thank you to Jacqueline and Steve for hiring me for their wedding. They DIY a lot of their things so there are not many people that I can tag but the staff at Villa del Sol is always amazing and I do want to shout out a huge thank you to everyone that helped make that evening so special.

I want to conclude this blog by stating that the people in the back that are putting all of this together from the catering to the linen to the cake. All of these people make these events possible. And I want to send out a huge thank you and shout out to all of the vendors that made this day possible….

Plus I want to thank Jacqueline and Steven. I have been looking forward to shooting their wedding since I first met them and am so glad the internet brought me to them. They hold God close to their heart and are both sacred human souls that came together in this lifetime to spend their lives together. And I was so glad that I was here to watch the love that surrounds them warm their hearts on this beautiful day… And watch them become one soul.
