There is always something a little bittersweet about shooting quinceañera pre-shoots. A quinceañera in the mexican culture is a celebration for when girl turns into a woman. This celebration takes place on her fifteenth birthday. The quince usually starts with mass inside a church and a reception party follows afterwards.

Of course it is something to be celebrated but at the same time I cannot help but think back and miss my own little girl childhood.

Days of having fun at school, going to the football games, watching the volleyball games, having fun at the beach with friends; which is all the stuff that Victoria likes to do.

To think that she is growing up and becoming a woman means as a parent, allowing your baby bird to fly away from the nest. And although that is exhilarating to think about, there is also a little bit of sadness in it.

We started at Irvine Regional park, one of my favorite shoot spots. It was a beautiful day, not too hot and not too cold. Victoria was so much fun to shoot. With her statuesque 6′,2″ frame was like I was shooting a supermodel. She was at ease in front of the camera and of course so beautiful. We did one outfit change from a super cute floral dress to a more casual outfit, a white long sleeve and jeans. So this tall girl is turning into a woman. Her celebration this December brought in me happiness and a bit of melancholy.
