What a beautiful day for a beautiful wedding! I have been happily anticipating Veronica and Joe’s wedding for quite a while. Well yesterday it finally came… THE DAY…THE BIG DAY!

And it was a perfect day for it… warm but not hot… with a light cool breeze and moments of overcast with a momentary sprinkle that coincided when we had to take photos outside.. Win win! We started the day at the Wyndham Arts Hotel in Costa Mesa.. my favorite hotel for brides getting ready. The hotel is covered in avant-garde decor with zebra print and royal purple chairs, chandeliers, a grand fireplace, and a creek that runs around the exterior. Not to mention the art and music influence found all around the interior and cafes.

My assistant for the day (Maya Eudave-Jones) and I got there a little early and started shooting details and then Patrick Staehle showed for video. We are a great team. While Veronica (always cool and collected) got her hair and make up done by the always amazing Luna Beauty Parlor, we took some photos of Joe who had surprisingly gotten to the Hotel hours early and was dressed and ready to go, just how I like em! After taking individual photos of Joe we went back to the room where Veronica proceeded to get into her very beautiful but very heavy dress from MonaAmie Bridal. The dress was gorgeous on her slender tall frame. We then proceeded to do a first look where Veronica descended a gorgeous, long, staircase next to a grand piano in the hotel to tap Joe on the shoulder for this breathtaking moment.

After this we finally headed to my FAVE venue… the rooftop at The FIFTH. The view looked over Anaheim and had a gorgeous view of Disneyland with a perfect view of the night time fireworks. It seemed like we were practically right in front of them. It was amazing! The details were gorgeous!!! The place was dripping in white flowers and huge collections of beautiful florals from SquareRoot Designs. They were truly beautiful. The two tier classic white cake with white roses and detailed frosting decorating it was made by Hapa Cupcakes. Throughout the ceremony and reception the music entertainment went from a mariachi group to a band and then a DJ played through the night. And there I met Ray the coordinator at The FIFTH and also a friend of mine! We started the ceremony under the most beautiful sky and finally ended with the reception where the first dance was danced under a dipping sun.. it was magical.

Sometimes the single ladies are reluctant to come onto the dance floor and catch the bouquet but these girls were ready and ruthless! The baby blue bouquet soared through the air as an array of heels jumped as high as they could in pursuit of a fun and ongoing tradition that is one of my favorites.

A huge thank you to Ray from the FIFTH rooftop and bar for referring Veronica and Joe to me and also of course to Veronica and Joe for booking me plus all of the great people that made this day happen!!!

Veronica and Joe both had daughters from past relationships who were around the same age so seeing their families merge together and become complete was beautiful. The girls looked ecstatic to see that their parents found each other through everything and happy to watch them begin the rest of their lives together. Veronica and Joe were flexible, kind, hilarious, punctual, and a breeze to shoot and I wish them nothing but eternal happiness.
