I am so ecstatic that baby Miles’ mommy Janet reached out and told me to prep because their baby boy was due any day now. I cleared my books, moved stuff around, and waited with bated breath until BOOM baby Miles was born. Welcome to the World Miles born Miles Moreno McMillon 6/17/21 8lbs 10oz 19.5″ 3:28 pm… this one made me sing for my supper just a little bit but he finally did fall asleep and boy did I get some gorgeous photos. Before booking our parents fill out a questionnaire with what colors, props, and anything else they might be interested in for their newborn shoot. I mean, I am an extensively published, award winning photographer so how else would I do it. It isn’t easy being the best photographer in LA. The parents are always super enthusiastic about this part and, as you can tell, chose a variety of blues, browns, grays, whites and turquoises for their handsome baby boy. They weren’t so interested in props as much as balled up blanket photos and as many poses we could do without baby Miles fighting us HAHAHA. We do whatever we can while considering if the baby is deep enough in sleep or has an upset tummy, or just generally doesn’t like a certain position. If baby Miles didn’t like a certain pose we move onto the next. In our setup we have heaters, heating pads, sound machines, and mommy nearby at all times if the baby gets hungry.
I love love LOVE this fine art picture of a close up baby face. He is so beautiful and this amazing photograph really captures that.
This photo… I was so happy he fell asleep long enough for me to capture him laying face forward on his little arms in this deep blue fabric background.
In this shot we put Miles in a little basket with some eucalyptus surrounding him and he looked ADORABLE. Look at that big ol’ pucker face!

Using a smooth fabric background we can focus in on the newborn’s details and really make them the star of the photo. It truly highlights how perfect these little babies are and I’m glad I get to showcase that through my photography. And look at his cute little faux hawk! Ugh my favorite.
I do love these types of shots and do this pose a lot because I think it’s just sooo cute. Baby booty alert!

A big shout out to Janet for booking me and booking me early enough after he was born to get some amazing photos. The sooner, the better for newborn shoots so the babies can get milk drunk and sleep through the whole shoot. This means they can also do the more complex poses and aren’t as fussy as, say, a ten day old baby. And of course a big thank you to baby Miles who was adorable and an absolute TROOPER. I can’t wait to shoot their family portraits for years to come and this family is such a treat.
