I am so ecstatic that baby Jax’s mommy Brittiany reached out as a new client and told me her baby boy was due soon and she NEEDED a newborn session. I made room in my books, moved stuff around, and waited with bated breath until BOOM baby Jaxson was born. Welcome to the World Jax, born Jaxson Agustin. He was born on 5/17/21 at 6:42 pm; 7 pounds 4 ounces and 201/2 inches … this one was such a peaceful happy little baby which, just let me say, is rare, and boy did I get some gorgeous photos. Check my Instagram for tap to edits with lots of peeling skin and discoloration.. hard work but worth it. He is such a cutie! I cannot get over the little smile! So adorable. I also got to take pictures of baby Jax with his older sister who were SO EXCITED that their baby brother was finally here. They had the biggest smiles, just like their little brother, and looked like such a loving family.

Before booking our parents fill out a questionnaire with what colors, props, and anything else they might be interested in for their newborn shoot. I mean, I am an extensively published, award winning photographer so how else would I do it. It isn’t easy being the best photographer in LA. The parents are always super enthusiastic about this part and, as you can tell, chose a variety of blues, grays, whites and turquoises for their handsome baby boy. They for sure wanted the baby bear props and pictures with his big sisters. We of course got as many poses we could do without baby Jaxson fighting us HA. We do whatever we can while considering if the baby is deep enough in sleep or has an upset tummy, or just generally doesn’t like a certain position. If baby Jax didn’t like a certain pose we move onto the next. Luckily for us, he was such a breeze to shoot and had a full milk belly that day. In our setup we have heaters, heating pads, sound machines, and mommy nearby at all times if the baby gets hungry.

I love wrapped blanket photographs of newborns because they just look so comfortable and warm. I mean look at his cute little face under that beanie.

The biggest smiles from this whole sibling trio! Most newborns are so deep in sleep or fussy they won’t even crack a smile but wow he was such a happy little baby. Maybe it was because his sisters were there.

In this shot we put Jaxson in a little basket on a baby blue chair that I distressed and painted myself and he looked ADORABLE. Look at that sleepy face.

Jax in a little ball of adorableness wrapped up all comfy in a blue blanket.

I do love these types of shots and do this pose a lot because I think it’s just sooo cute. Baby booty alert! Using a smooth fabric background we can focus in on the newborn’s details and really make them the star of the photo. It truly highlights how perfect these little babies are and I’m glad I get to showcase that through my photography. And look at his cute little faux hawk! Ugh my favorite.

A big shout out to Brittiany for booking me and booking me early enough after he was born to get some amazing photos. The sooner, the better for newborn shoots so the babies can get milk drunk and sleep through the whole shoot. This means they can also do the more complex poses and aren’t as fussy as, say, a ten day old baby. And of course a big thank you to baby Jax who was adorable and an absolute pleasure to shoot. I can’t wait to shoot their family portraits for years to come and this family is such a treat and filled me with joy.
