You would think that a Latin-American and Nigerian wedding would be a clash in culture! But not at all! These two cultures party the same way!!! Julius could not erase his big beautiful smile from his face all day. It was so adorable. These two had a beautiful rustic wedding at Coto Valley County Club. Their theme was perfect for the venue since Coto Valley country club has that rustic vintage ranch vibe! Amy looked gorgeous in her mermaid dress. The day was warm with a cool breeze, perfect for their outdoor wedding. A huge thank you to Angela at Coto Valley Country Club for all of her help; She coordinated the day and kept the day flowing smoothly! Also a huge thank you to the beautiful Catrina Cat_Cimut for the gorgeous makeup! A Special shout out to my BFF David Valco for hiring me for his niece’s wedding. Love you Amy Kohn and Julius Edson!
We shot the most beautiful veiled covered in The whisper of white flowers and the most blingy Bagdley Mishka high heel shoes you can imagine! Along with her beautiful invitation and the most beautiful pink and white floral bouquets. Decked out with peonies and eucalyptus it was timeless, classic but absolutely beautiful.
I loved shooting at the Coto Valley Country Club because it was just incredible. The high ceilings, the sunshine, the Barn, and the rustic vintage feeling of the whole grounds were just a photographer’s dream. The napkins on every table were folded into roses and the red and white theme was gorgeous and the reception and ceremony were filled with flowers. You could smell them a mile away. They even provided flip-flops so people could dance freely and kick their heels off while being comfortable. We shot the rings, garter, dress, shoes, and all the cute things they had around their ceremony and reception at Coto Valley Country Club. They had welcome signs and a sign-in table, a gift wheelbarrow, a beautiful red and white cake, an in-Memorium section with pictures of lost loved ones, and endless thoughtful details. They even had an entire wooden table that their guests could sign and had their last name printed largely in the center. During cocktail hour they brought out a huge live mariachi and a table full of hundreds of custom shots encouraging guests to take a shot with the couple next to lime slices with little Mexican and Nigerian flags in them.
Amy started getting ready on this lovely summer day at Coto Valley Country Club in Trabuco Canyon. Her shoes were a beautiful gold and cream with blue vines all around them. Her dress looked amazing on her and fit her body perfectly. I adored the pearls that ran down her spine and that’s also one of my favorite parts of the dress. It was detailed with white floral designs but not too distracting and remained elegant and classic. Amy didn’t want anyone to see her dress before the ceremony so only the people doing makeup and hair, and my crew saw her before the ceremony.
After Amy was dressed and ready, We took some dramatic shots inside of the Coto Valley Country Club and went outside to the vintage green truck parked out front that made for some lovely pictures. This venue is a photographer’s dream because it has so many opportunities for amazing photos and the grounds are huge. The grounds had tons of vignettes, swings, large fields, cute white fences, trees, and vintage rustic props in front.
We then shot Julius and His best friend/ Brother while Amy his inside and calmed her nerves for the big day. Julius’s smile is so big and nice I couldn’t stop smiling along with him. He wore a Bluish gray suit with traditional Nigerian accessories to pay homage to his culture. We shot him with his groomsmen who were so funny and full of life. I had a blast shooting them.
After everyone was ready we headed to the ceremony. Julius waited for his bride to walk down the aisle with her father. The flower girl threw white rose petals onto the aisle and the bride emerged. Julius beamed and was so happy to see Amy. The ceremony had many traditional ceremonies such as kneeling into a rope together and they read their own vows which were really sweet. They had their kiss, signed their marriage contract, and it was official! We got to take formal pictures with their whole wedding party, the families, and then pictures of just the couple. You could tell just how in love they were and how much family support they had. We got to take amazing photos at the Coto Valley Country Club and it was beautiful. After the formal photos, we went back to the reception. Time to party!
Amy and Julius did their grand entrance and first dance which was perfectly choreographed. They were both amazing dancers! Their siblings and parents read speeches that were so heartfelt I almost cried. They then danced with their parents and opened the dance floor for everyone soon after. and they got DOWN. Julius had MOVES and I got some great shots of everyone dancing their hearts out. They did their cake cutting during the party and the cake was tasty vanilla with lemon filling, at least the piece I got LOL. We took a quick break and snuck to couple out to get some gorgeous photos right outside the venue because the twinkle lights had turned on and it was sooo beautiful. The trees were absolutely dripping with twinkle lights and lights were hung everywhere. It was magical and worth taking a party break for these photos. They partied into the night as our time ended with the couple and I had such a great time taking photos of this couple.
I want to conclude this blog by stating that the people in the back that are putting all of this together from the florals to the linen to the cake. All of these people make these events possible. And I want to send out a huge thank you and shout out to all of the vendors that made this day possible..
A big thank you to one of my best friends David Valco. He got me this wedding because Amy is actually his wife Sonia’s niece. I of course gave them a hefty friends and family discount as I would do anything for them and had a great time meeting and capturing memories for Amy. Thank you to everyone who made this day run so smoothly. Days like this truly take a village.
