This is the second time I shot at this little Oasis in the middle of Menifee. It always shocks me to see this perfect little piece of heaven in the middle of a more desolate arid area. Then you turn in.. walk through an arched twinkle-lit tunnel and into a green lush gorgeous venue. We had such a great time shooting Mayra and Josh’s wedding! They were such an easy and fun couple.. making us laugh more than we were making them laugh! Enjoy these sneak peeks!
We usually start with the girls getting dressed but they were running a little behind so today we started with shooting the boys. Josh looked super handsome in his gray suit with a dark gray vest and we shot him getting ready in front of a window in his dressing room that cast beautiful sunlight onto him. After he and his friends finished getting dressed we went outside to do some fun shots of all the guys.
After we shot the boys we headed over to shoot the girls and the Bride’s details. She had gorgeous velvet blue stilettos with shining jewels on them. We shot her perfume, rings, necklace, earrings, invitation, save the date, garter, and her beautiful dress. After that, we shot the bridesmaids helping the bride put her dress on. Literally, all the girls came together to help with her corset it was so funny. Her mom stepped in for some shots and the bride finished putting her jewelry and shoes on. Her blue heels looked so good and popped against her white dress. After Mayra was done getting dressed and all the bridesmaids finished their makeup we headed outside for their photos. There were even 3 little girls as flower girls and they were so cute. We shot all around the grounds and got some really pretty pictures of the Bride. It of course helped that Mayra is so naturally beautiful. We took some more pictures of the Bride and her mom and headed over to the reception to take pictures of some details.
I captured all of the cute signs, their sign-in book featuring the engagement photos I took months before, and photo strips they had framed. Each table had beautiful white and pink flower centerpieces with custom napkins and frame table numbers with everyone’s names on them.
Then it was time for the ceremony! Josh waited anxiously for Mayra as the flower girls walked down the aisle. They said their vows, exchanged rings and did this beautiful tradition where they planted a plant together, to symbolize their love and nurture it. It was a short ceremony but it was sweet and bursting with love and tears. Wedding ceremonies don’t need to be an hour long to be special and the shorter ones can hold their guest’s attention for the entire time.
After the ceremony, we shot family and guest pictures with the Bride and groom. Everyone lined up to get their chance to get in with the couple. Once we got those done we headed off and explored The Orchard at Wedgewood. We got some gorgeous photos of just the couple and always take the opportunity to get bold and creative with it. This couple was super natural in front of the camera and we got some amazing shots at Wedgewood Orchard near the fountain, in the willow trees, on the field, on benches, and alll around. It was a photography dream. When we were done shooting formal pictures and exploring the orchard we headed to the reception.
Mayra and Josh opted for a smaller elegant cake covered in pearls so that they could have a huge dessert bar. There were cupcakes, chocolate truffles, and all sorts of treats. They did their grand entrance through an ethereal tunnel in the woods and it was breathtaking at sunset. They went straight into their first dance inside a gazebo and it was intimate and special. They wore super cool sunglasses that I got some pictures of and everyone danced into the night. Their closest friends and family gave speeches as the sunset and the twinkling lights glimmered. It was a truly special night and I wish nothing but the best for this amazing couple.
I’d love to give Mayra and Josh a big shoutout for hiring me for their big day and being such an amazing and fun couple to shoot. Love you guys and can’t wait to shoot your family again soon! Mayra has the sweetest soul and Josh is hilarious and perfect for her. They were so silly and absolutely down for anything I asked of them which is rare. To this day they’re still one of my favorite families and I shoot all of their photography needs. Their wedding was in 2017 and I still gush over it and have the top photo of this blog hanging in my studio. They were a dream to work with and I love seeing them every year. Their first dance song is still one of my favorites and once I find it in my playlist I’ll write it here. Thank you to everyone who helped make this wedding possible ! The Orchard at Wedgewood is a beautiful venue, it’s truly an oasis in a desert and the lighting is phenomenal with so much shade.
