Not every wedding goes as planned. Sometimes there is chaos that needs to be dealt with. Sometimes it’s a crazy family you wish you could swap out for someone else’s LOL. That is how I often feel about my own family! Sometimes there are regrets following up to the wedding and the ideas that you have held in your mind about your perfect day may not match up to your expectations. Those are the times that  I hope that I can bring a little bit of sunshine to an otherwise chaotic day. I hope that my passion for what I do and my expertise will help a couple remember their day with even more happiness.
Pennie and Rudy’s wedding day was a hot one. In the middle of a heat wave with most of the photography photographed indoors, we did schedule some of it for outdoor photography. Riddled with bits of chaos that are normal at many weddings. Arguments about dresses, make-up not being done on time, hairstyles that maybe aren’t loved. However, I know that these are the usual bits of craziness that happen at most weddings. Most of my couples don’t know this.
When I walked into the room where the girls were getting ready I did not see many smiles. All of the bridesmaids were the bride’s sisters and her mom was the maid of honor. It can be like this when you have your family as part of your wedding party because family rarely has to be on their best behavior. But Pennie looked STUNNING. And when she put on her dress from Illusions Bridal in Whittier …. WOW! Totally Breathtaking. We started with photos at the Hotel, The Embassy Suites in Garden Grove. Pennie is the kind of beauty that inspires! I loved photographing her.. couldn’t get enough!

After the photos at the hotel, we headed to the ceremony at St. Pius Catholic Church in Santa Fe Springs. The ceremony was beautiful! Rudy was in great spirits and looked handsome! It was a traditional ceremony with blessings and about an hour long. People walked up at the end to wish the couple the best and the couple scheduled a 30-minute period after the ceremony to greet their guests which I really liked. Your wedding day goes by in such a blur so if you have time to spare you should make sure to get a second to see the people who are there for you on your special day. We took a few photos in the church with family and the bridal party and then it was time to head to Penn Park in Whittier for formals.
I knew everyone would hate me as I had them head to the top of the hill on this very hot day. But they mainly were all troopers. We took photographs for as long as possible, ending a bit early due to the extended drive back and heavy traffic. Despite limited movement, I managed to capture some beautiful images.

After the creative formals, we headed to The Grand Theater in Anaheim for the reception. It was definitely grand. They had two types of photo booths a 360 booth and an inflatable booth. They had a NACHO BAR.. HELLO.. MY SOUL. Nachos are one of my favorite foods! They had an entire nacho cheese fountain with more toppings than you could imagine!

They did their grand entrance and had a sparkler first dance thanks to Arturo from Massive Entertainment!
Once people started cooling off and drinking the party mood started elevating… the guys had tons of crazy energy for the garter toss where Rudy and the guys planned a whole thing with getting Rudy pumped up like he was in a boxing corner and getting him water and all… it was hilarious. They bounced up and down and really made a fun show of it all!
All of the rest of the formalities were great and the money dance was a great moment that Pennie and Rudy go to share some intimate moments with their guests. Rudy was having the time of his life dancing it up with his buddies!

I know that the ideas that we have in our mind of what our wedding day should be… sometimes don’t match up with the reality of the craziness of a big wedding day. But at the end of it all… remember you are surrounded by the people who love you the most, even if they drive you crazy. You are marrying your best friend, as imperfect as they sometimes seem, and you get an awesome tax break every year LOL!!!!
Anyway, when I left everyone looked like they were having a blast, and that’s what matters!
Maya and I had such a great time photographing this crazy bunch!
I just loved it. I hope that the photos show how much I loved it, wish I could have photographed more!
I want to thank Pennie and Rudy for their incredible generosity on their day, for having us at their wedding, and for allowing me to photograph such an important day for them.

I want to conclude this blog by stating that the people in the back that are putting all of this together from the florals to the linen to the cake. All of these people make these events possible. And I want to send out a huge thank you and shout out to all of the vendors that made this day possible….
