This picture is my personal all-time favorite and is just so ethereal! I had her run back and forth for about 15-20 minutes before we finally got the results I was looking for and wow it was worth it.
Maya really wanted a photo in front of the big UCR letters on her school’s campus and there was an actual line we had to stand in to wait for our turn while everyone else took their photos in front of it. She loves the result and I’m glad we didn’t give up on the line like we almost did. You also can see a great shot of UC Riverside’s iconic bell tower in the background which is really cool.
My goal is for you to feel absolutely flawless and to capture your personality in a genuine, authentic way. I want you to LOVE your pictures so much that you want to scream and jump in excitement. If you are looking for photos that are bold and creative, you’re in the right place. (This doesn’t mean I’m not silly and having a fun time while I take your pictures because trust me it’s always a good time.) Maya was just in the Emergency room the day before this with a stomach bug so I’m glad she could push through and make it through the day. She did her makeup and I curled her hair. She brought two dresses that we had picked out for this shoot a few weeks ago. She loves a celestial and dark theme. It’s not my personal favorite but we have a red ball gown that I wanted for her upcoming second graduation shoot at my favorite spot for grad sessions, SOKA. So yeah, we compromised but she still looks absolutely gorgeous especially in her big sparkly black ballgown.
On the way there we pulled over at a grocery store and Maya ran in and bought the cheapest bottle of champagne she could find. She was really excited about some champagne shots and they came out really cute. The first shot she shook it as much as she could and it wasn’t a huge explosion but she shook it up some more and it went EVERYWHERE. She couldn’t hide her screams it was soo funny.
I’m so proud of my baby girl for all she’s accomplished so far. It’s a big deal when someone in our family graduates because it is rare and especially for a degree in STEM. She is a strong Latina woman who I know will do great things in the world. She looked absolutely beautiful and all grown up I couldn’t believe it. She has many more years of school to go but a Bachelors in Biology is no small feat.
