Pasadena City hall is one of my favorite locations and just always comes out looking gorgeous with so many different staircases, fountains, and a gorgeous rooftop that showcases the city hall’s beautiful architecture. Allison and Jakob live in Pasadena so this city is near and dear to their heart and what a better way to show their love than to take their engagement photos close to home. Their wedding is coming up soon and they’re getting married in Whittier which is a sentimental place for Allison and I can’t wait for their big day. This couple was so fun and unique and working with them made the shoot go by so fast! I also love when people bring multiple outfit changes because it gives us so many options. They can show an upgraded version of their style day-to-day or go full out glam. You can give cute, beautiful, and sexy with all these different outfits!
They were/are so in love and Jakob wanted to do anything to make Allison happy, it was so sweet. They were so cuddly and affectionate the whole shoot and I had a great time. We opted for more photo journalistic styles photos and a dramatic flash mixed with some beautiful natural light as the day had perfect lighting.
They were truly so unique and down for anything. I climbed to the roof with all of my equipment to get this shot and I love how it came out. When I saw lay on the ground some of my couples will prefer not to get their clothes or hair dirty but some of my couples are ALL IN.
We waited until the almost fully down and we got the gorgeous purple haze in the sky and the Pasadena City Hall illuminated and glowed. If you can’t tell, these night shots I do here are actually in the middle of the street! We always make sure the traffic is clear, run out for a few photos, and the run back out once cars start coming again! Luckily this isn’t too busy of an intersection and there’s usually plenty of room around us for cars to pass but when there’s multiple photographers in the same spot (as there usually are) then it gets to be a little bit tricky, but always so much fun and the end results are worth it.
II want to thank Allison and Jakob. They were nothing but kind and funny and so full of love for each-other. I’m so looking forward to shooting their wedding soon and it’s going to be down the street from my house hahaha. Their engagement session was such a blast and this couple is so flexible, free spirited- and full of love for each other. I know they have a very bright and loving future ahead of them.
