Finally the big day came.. I was completely and utterly transfixed at how gorgeous these two girls looked in their dresses. I have known Alyssa since she was a 6 year old little girl with straight bangs and chubby cheeks. She was my daughter Maya’s best friend growing up so watching her grow up and get to shoot her wedding has been a beautiful experience. And to see her with her soulmate Natalie is an even better addition to our lives. Natalie and Alyssa are some of the kindest and warmest souls I’ve ever met so it was an honor when the big day came and they asked me to be their wedding photographer. It’s always a beautiful experience to shoot soulmates but soulmates that you know personally is the cherry on top.
Their first look made me tear up and watching Alyssa get dressed and ready and her mom Laurie tearing up really choked me up too! My team and I started the day at Alyssa’s mom’s house because that’s the way Alyssa has always wanted it…. even though it was chaotic with all of the girls getting ready we were able to carve out a corner near a bookcase full of records and were able to do their first look there. Alyssa’s brother, mom, and their bridal party were super helpful and completely emotional that day! I mean who wouldn’t be looking at these two getting married. Alyssa and Natalie picked out the most beautiful glittery white dresses and could not have looked more beautiful and in love that day.
Afterwards we went to downtown Anaheim near Muzeo where we tried to stay mostly in the shade.. It was a pretty warm day, especially it being June in Southern California. Noah and I shot Alyssa and Natalie all over the area.. they literally looked like porcelain princesses! Muzeo is one of my favorite locations in the area so it was fun shooting all around there.
Then we headed to the Hacienda where I shot their ceremony followed by reception! My daughter was also there shooting video for her friends, how cute! I love shooting at the Hacienda in Santa Ana.. it is one of my favorite venues. I’m a sucker for twinkly fairy lights. It also has a gorgeous Spanish flair and has a good mix of indoor and outdoor architecture. The wedding was amazing! Love was heavy in the air as these soulmates said their own written vows and told of how they met and what they went through to be together and coming out. A family member was their officiant and did an excellent job. Then came the reception, party time! They had a Star wars themed grand entrance and played Disney music during their cake cutting, some of my favorite things HAHA! The speeches were emotional as Alyssa’s whole family and their friends expressed how much they meant to them and how strong their love is. They welcomed Natalie into the family and it was beautiful. I won’t say I’m the best wedding photographer but who are we kidding I am, and these photos came out amazing.
They danced for a while until the impromptu daddy daughter dance where Alyssa’s dad Eric teared up for the hundredth time that day. They did their bouquet tosses and all the single ladies were ready to go. They had a really cute streamer exit to one of their favorite songs and called an end to the day. Congrats to my girls! It has been an honor watching Alyssa grow up and now having Natalie makes things even better.. love you girls!!
This couple had to go through so much adversity to be together and really showed their maturity throughout the whole process of fighting for their love. I could not be more proud of these lovely girls and wish nothing but love and happiness for them for the rest of their lives.
