I knew this day was going to be fun… The moment I laid eyes on Chantell and saw her teal mermaid locks cascading over her right shoulder and  Matt’s super colorful tank top and half inch Earlobes. I loved that the couple was getting dressed and ready in the same hotel room at the grand Californian hotel at Disneyland . Matt was hanging out outside with his guys on the patio drinking a few beers while Chantell was getting her make up done. Although they were trying their best not to look at each other because after all they were doing a first look they still were able to have fun and be relaxed in this atmosphere. I knew they were going to be a lot of fun and easy to work with all day .
Chantell and Matt are from Alberta Canada and had their destination wedding here in Anaheim.  She was working for The Disney Store in 2008, and Matt was working at a storage center where we stored product during the busy seasons. In September, after many days of flirting back and forth, in a typical Matt fashion, he asked her to join him and some friends at the Casino… After a few (many) dates, they decided to go their separate ways (Matt wasn’t ready for a serious commitment – and Chantell  always talked about babies and marriage).  Fast-forward to March of 2012, after much-needed learning experiences and failed relationships elsewhere, they got back together and knew for-sure this was the FOREVER thing. Four years later, Matt got down on one knee in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle in Disneyland. Obviously, Chantell said YES!!!!

Fast Forward to the wedding day.. and we are shooting their first look. The stunning architecture at the Grand Califonia Hotel makes for a stunning backdrop!

After their first look we shot all around the Grand California Hotel and took a few more shots across the way from The Fifth at Anaheim Plaza Hotel. A huge thank you to the staff and managers there for allowing us to take photos. Matt and Chantell are huge patrons but they didn’t need to allow us to shoot there are there did not get dressed and ready there but I do recommend getting ready there! Again.. huge thanks!
Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
A: It felt so special when we were proclaimed husband and wife – that moment brings an incredible feeling that you just can’t make up. We also could not believe how many of our family and friends made the trip down from Canada to watch and celebrate with us. We are forever grateful to everyone who helped make that day what it was.

8The ceremony was magical. Can you imagine a beautiful summer day overlooking Disneyland the sky Is clear and bright. You enter your rooftop ceremony site and are welcomed by the friendliest staff at the fifth In Orange County . Sparkling Through you can see all of the beautiful colorful details of teals, blues, champagne colors, oranges and so many beautiful details .
Matt and Chantell chose to get married at The Fifth across from Disneyland so that all of their closest friends and family could experience the fireworks show which is  something that they have admired for so long. It was amazing to shoot them on the rooftop and watching the fireworks show!

The reception at The Fifth was SPECTACULAR! Imagine the gorgeous sun setting.. orange and purple streaked across the sky. It was absolute perfection! Ray and the staff at The Fifth were nothing but friendly and wonderful. Everything ran on time and having such a professional staff makes it easy to stay present and really enjoy such a beautiful day. Nothing is more important than staying present on your wedding. I highly recommend Ray and The Fifth for weddings!

Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
A: We are both from Alberta, Canada, so we originally planned to get married somewhere local. On one of our annual trips to California, we noticed the rooftop patio of The Fifth across the street, and instantly knew that was where we were meant to tie the knot!
